Sports week and VC Cup

Sports week will feature a variety of daily competitions, including ergo row, table tennis, volleyball, and 3x3 basketball, with the week concluding with the cornhole tournament and the prestigious VC Cup 800m relay race. The VC Cup, now in its 16th year, will be a highlight to end the week or activities, as six teams compete for the coveted trophy in an 800m relay around the campus. Monday 14 to Friday 18 October. Fitness Hub showcase day

Adelaide University Sport and Fitness will host a special showcase event to formally unveil the new Fitness Hub at North Terrace campus. Ashley Dennis-Henderson, the winner of the 2023 Hugh Martin Weir Prize, will speak about her research analysing Australian World War I diaries and letters using mathematical and computational techniques. Mechanosensitive ion channels regulate the impact of microgravity on mammalian cells. Presented by Associate Professor Kate Poole (UNSW). Kate's research is establishing a new model system to investigate the mechanisms by which microgravity disrupts cellular function, by studying non-adherent cells with simple morphologies to further expand our understanding of the molecular underpinnings of cellular adaptations to microgravity. Pizza, mini-documentary and film night
