  • Biography/ Background

    Noel Lindsay is Dean of Business, Adelaide Business School and Pro Vice Chancellor (Entrepreneurship) at the University of Adelaide, where he holds the position of Professor of Entrepreneurship and Commercialisation. His leadership responsibilities include providing a strong focus on research, teaching, and engagement excellence through developing a staff culture aligned with quality and continual improvement, underpinned by AACSB accreditation and ISO 9001 and ISO 44001 School certifications, enhancing the student experience and student employability through facilitating the development of an augmented entrepreneurial mindset in students, and expediting the translation of research into impact through ThincLab, the University's integrated new venture incubation, innovation, and acceleration platform that facilitates the startup and scaleup of new ventures, and engagement with industry and the wider community. Noel has held previous positions at the University of Adelaide as Director of the Entrepreneurship, Commercialisation and Innovation Centre; Academic Director of the University’s Singapore Ngee Ann-Adelaide (NAA) Campus; Head of the School of Marketing & Management; and Acting Associate Dean Diversity & Inclusion. Prior to Adelaide, Noel was involved in establishing and developing an Australian University in South Africa with Campuses in Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Cape Town.
     
    Outside the University environment, Noel’s leadership experience has included launching/developing ventures in Australia, South Africa and Malaysia as well as venture capital fund raising and investment with one of Australia's oldest venture capital firms. As an accountant, Noel has practised in the areas of audit and insolvency/company turn arounds.

    From an outreach perspective, Noel is interested in how best to engage with industry and communities including using online teaching, blended learning, and MOOCs to reach geographically distant markets and SPOCs to target local market segments.

    Noel's research interests include business/social entrepreneurship and innovation with particular focus on how entrepreneurship can empower communities and those who are disadvantaged.

    Noel is a member of the Executive of the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) where he is currently the  ABDC President. He holds a BCom (Hons) and PhD, is a Member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners, Member of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand, and Fellow of CPA Australia.
