Biography/ Background
Tshewang Dorji (Dorji) is a Research Officer at the University of Adelaide, Waite Campus. With a B.Sc in Forestry (Hons) from India and an M.Sc in Natural Environmental Studies from the University of Tokyo, Japan, Dorji has a solid foundation in environmental science. He completed his PhD in plant ecology and grazing at the University of Adelaide, South Australia earning the Dean's Commendation for Doctoral Thesis Excellence.
Dorji's career began as a Forestry Officer with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Bhutan Government, where he led key projects in forestry, wildlife, ecological restoration, ecosystem services and climate change. In Australia, he served as a Biosecurity Researcher with South Australia's Biosecurity division, where he focussed on conserving native plants and animals from threatening processes like invasive species and climate change.
Since 2021, Dorji has been working as a Research Officer with the Future Drought Fund's Drought Resilient Soils and Landscapes Project at the University of Adelaide focussing on improving pasture cultivars and management practices towards building climate resilience in mixed farms across South Australia.
